Books, their words and histories, come to us in many ways and occasionally there’s more than one story between the covers. I bought this book at a second-hand bookshop in the village. Inside I found an Indian Airlines ticket along with a saddening in memoriam card for Len who died suddenly in April. The ticket may not belong with the card but what stories are conjured!
I am so sorry for your losses. If we were geographically closer, I would want very much to come visit with a meal and some tea, and listen to anything you would want to say. I hope you’ll let your friends in this online space listen to you, whether you prefer that we listen through words in your posts or through your visual compositions.
I hope you’re taking care of yourself in the best ways you can, and that you know there really isn’t any reason to apologize to us. Thank you for sharing with us now, when you were ready.

Oh sweetheart, you are so lovely.
I haven’t lost anyone, I found these two pieces of paper in a book I bought at a village fayre and they moved me so much, for so many different reasons. Mainly that they were used as bookmarks whilst reading a special book but we can weave some tales around such scanty evidence.
I wish I knew the lady so I could pass on your heartfelt wishes.
Re, you go some way to reviving my faith in human nature.

Well, now I’m embarrassed. I’ve been doing this a lot lately, not understanding things so well or seeing things that aren’t there. I think my years of insufficient sleep are effecting me too much now.
Thank you for being kind, very kind, and not making fun.

Very moving. You don’t get this with e-books. Long live books.
