Better the devils we know we can’t trust

No doubt about it, we are persistently drawn to liars.

Every five years or so a bunch of fraudulent degenerates represent themselves as the very models of moral fortitude and put themselves up for election to sit in the Great British Parliament.

Like discount market traders they scramble to display their wares in the most alluring of fashions whilst declaring that they take everything “very seriously indeed” especially equality, openness and honesty. Every speech brings a novel slight of hand. They would have us believe that only scroungers, layabouts, criminals and the terminally demented could possibly disagree with their propagandism no matter how absurd.

They repeatedly cajole us into believing what they think we want to hear.

We stagger under the weight of their promises of a brighter tomorrow, where everyone will enjoy the benefits of the consumer society in equal measure, poverty will be obliterated, the world will be a safer place, one day soon, maybe tomorrow, just so long as we give them free rein to run things. And never think to check up on them to make sure they’re not in it just for themselves.

It’s all bullshit of course. Far too late we discover that their pretty baubles are nothing but blinding deceptions. But, and here lies the rub, we fall for their lies every time and meek as lambs to the slaughter we place our cross in the box.

The irony is, these same self-seeking deceivers mercilessly hound those who really do live for truth, integrity and transparency.

So, I want to thank everyone who, unlike most of our public servants, at great cost to their personal freedom and for no financial gain worth speaking of, shoulder the burden of Truth to help make the world that little bit more open and honest, and render more accountable those who seek to subjugate us. In particular, I would like to thank Julian Assange, Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning for having the courage to expose how the world truely is and for informing us of things we should already know. That we should already have been told without fuss or fantasy by those we elect to serve us.

The British Government welcomes Free Speech so long as you are white and wealthy.

  1. Another delicious reflection. I also appreciate the link to the article. I wanted to say that the politicians don’t realise they’re hypocrites. That is why they are effective.

    1. Thanks you for your lovely endorsement . . . reference our dear demented politicians, I think the reason they don’t realise is because they haven’t a clue what the word means let alone how to smell it. Ha! And then there’s that “loveable rogue” Trump (four times bankrupt, compulsive liar and bender of truths) what a laugh it’ll be if he makes it all the way to the Lighthouse/Whitehouse . . . eek!

      1. I don’t know what is going on in the world. The Rogue is on television and we live in a society where you’re not legitimate unless you’re on TV. It doesn’t matter what lies a person tells, as long as they are entertaining. It’s sadly a consequence of the mind bending tactics of the entertainment industry. People think that leaders are participants in The Voice or X Factor or America’s Next Top Model. Even though the ratings of many of these types of shows are suffering, the disastrous effects are lasting.

        1. Anger, bewilderment, humiliation, guilt etc. etc. I’m unsure whether I feel these emotions because of the way our world is being blatantly mismanaged and sucked dry or because that’s how THEY (whoever THEY are) manipulate me to feel. To keep me exhausted and weak. Either way I want my mind to be left alone. It may not be perfect, it may not be always right or pure, it might even be a bit of a mess at times but it’s mine. All mine.

Wishing you love and merriment at this festive time.
